Platelet Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is harvested from your own blood. Platelets are a natural source of several growth factors found within the plasma portion of your blood. Through leading-edge technology, a high concentration of your own PRP is created while you relax. When these growth factors are released, they help regulate and accelerate healing that signals other surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new healthy, younger collagens, new blood vessels, and other needed tissues within the skin. This can be used during microneedling, mesotherapy (directly injected into the tissue), and after Skinfinity RF techniques to promote improved tissue regeneration. This is also used to directly stimulate scalp hair regrowth.

PRP improves the following:

  • Skin tone, texture, and elasticity
  • Skin radiance
  • Fine lines, deeper wrinkles, facial folds
  • Scars including acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Hyperpigmentation and sun spots (lightening)
  • Scalp hair regrowth

Questions and Answers

Who should include PRP with their treatments?

Anyone who wants improved results for any of the listed benefits of PRP

Couldn’t I just do microneedling and get the same benefits as platelet rich plasma?

You will get very good results by doing microneedling, but studies do show improved collagen production by adding PRP.

How many PRP treatments will I need?

This is highly dependent on how your skin is starting out, your age, your health status, your smoking status, and many other factors. Most will require 3-4 initial treatments of microneedling or another collagen stimulation treatment with or without mesotherapy with the PRP addition. For the best outcome, some may need additional treatments, such as 4-6 or more. These are typically done 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance is always required 2-4 times yearly, to continue renewal and stimulation of collagens. The skin continues to age.

What area(s) should I treat with PRP?

For ages 30 or more, I always recommend to include the neck when treating the face. However, any area of the body can be treated, and the décolleté can and should be considered as well, as it is an area that is quite often visible and sun-damaged.

Can platelet rich plasma be injected into specific areas, such as around the eye area?

Yes. This technique is called mesotherapy and is commonly done to enhance specific areas, such as the eye area. Areas that have deeper wrinkles can also be included in this technique, such as the nasolabial folds, lip lines, marionette lines, frown lines, etc. This can be done by itself or as part of another procedure including PRP, such as microneedling or Skinfinity RF.

Is PRP safe?

A small amount of your own blood is sterilely drawn by a qualified technician. Since this is an autologous donation, meaning your own blood, there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or rejection. We handle your PRP carefully and have been fully trained.
